Coach David has been coaching competitive volleyball for the past 12 years, and has over 35 years of overall volleyball experience. He is in his 12th year as a head coach and his 9th year with Frisco Flyers. He has consistently led his teams to NTR Top 25 ranking finishes throughout his coaching career. As Head Coach he led and qualified teams for USAV Girls Junior National Championships in 2015 (Club Max 14’s-David – National Division), 2019 (Frisco Flyers 13 Rox-David – American Division), and 2022 (Frisco Flyers 12 APX-David - American Division), and as Assistant Coach in 2017 (Frisco Flyers 14’s-Jason - American Division) and 2022 (Frisco Flyers APX-Anthony - USA Division). Coach David also has been a head coach for 7 years in beach volleyball, with Frisco Flyers, the Texas Volleyball Training Beach Volleyball Club, and the Craig Ranch Beach volleyball program. He is USAV certified in Beach Impact and Beach CAP I. Coach David trained and coached his youngest daughter Ashley for many years in both indoor and beach volleyball. She played indoor for Allen High School and played club volleyball, qualifying for Nationals. Ashley subsequently received a beach volleyball scholarship and played for the Georgia State University Panthers.
Coach David has played competitively since high school in all varieties of volleyball, including beach, grass, indoor, doubles, triples, sixes, men’s and co-ed. He primarily plays right side and middle hitter positions. Coach David is USAV Indoor IMPACT, CAP I, and CAP II certified.
Coach David was born and raised in El Paso. He began his volleyball career by playing in numerous top city leagues and local tournaments. He then began coordinating and played on several USVBA teams in the Sun Country Region. Coach David later attended and graduated from Texas Tech University. There he and a teammate formed and played on a Lubbock Men’s USVBA Volleyball Travel Club. He has been a Tournament Director and hosted many tournaments in both the El Paso and Lubbock areas. He also was the head coach/player of an Allen AA City League co-ed team for over 10 years, and a member/coach of the Texas Boys Volleyball Program.
David enjoys all areas of coaching, especially working with the players and promoting their volleyball growth, both mentally and physically. He believes in the development of good fundamentals, a competitive mentality, positive training and reinforcement at a high competitive level, and creating an environment that will nurture a lifelong passion for the sport of volleyball.
