Biography
My name is Moriah Wood and I was born and raised in Kansas. I moved to Texas in July 2020. Growing up, I played club volleyball for 9 years as well played for my high school. In college, I continued playing intramural volleyball and in adult leagues both women's and coed. After college, I continued the adult leagues and coached my first 13's club team.
Education
I went to college at Kansas State University and studied Elementary Education. I teach 2nd grade in Richardson ISD and I am currently in Grad School to earn a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership with Principal’s Licensure. I have a passion for teaching and supporting young learners and athletes through various phases of life.
Philosophy
I believe that playing sports as a child can help build not only confidence, but responsibility. Working together as a team for one goal shows players the importance of working for each other, not as an individual. Momentum is so important in volleyball, so keeping positive flow is vital. I coach using a cooperative style — coaches and players both create a relationship that combines working hard and having fun to work towards success. I can’t wait for this season to get started!!
