Biography
Tom started his coaching journey in 1983, as a student in High School helping in the special needs program in the high school he attended. He was asked to coach a group of young men ages 15-19 in Gymnastics and Basketball in the Special Olympics in Washington State. Then moved onto youth ministry while going to College at the University of Texas, Dallas eventually moving into a bi-vocational Youth Pastor role working for several churches in the North Texas area for over 15 years, leading teenagers on Ski trips to mission trips in Mexico and teaching kids how to play volleyball as he himself played tournaments all over Texas as a sand doubles Open player for almost 10 years. During those years he learned a lot of the skills he teaches today to players while playing open level indoor tournaments for years while in college. He loves the sport of volleyball and you can find him on weekends when he is not coaching on a sand court playing.
He works in the Technology field now for a Cyber security company selling in the Education market. He is going on his 8th year of coaching Select Volleyball as his passion for coaching continues to grow. He is very passionate about helping players be the best they can be, and to grow as a player. He has coached teams aging from 14 to 17 helping young players achieve their dreams or just have fun… He is a Proud Father of three children, his oldest daughter has helped him coach the last few years here at the Flyers, his son is attending Collin College on his way to Texas State University and his youngest daughter attends Celina ISD where she has currently lettered in Basketball and Track as a Freshman while she continues her high school journey.
